The Finish Giant and global hit, Nokia, has not tried to make any partnerships or agreements with other manufacturers of software, but uses its own. Nokia is bent on sticking to its own Symbian OS software, however in today’s world where Android and Windows phones are the biggest hit, it is only natural and prudent that Nokia decided to partner up with Microsoft. The birth of that partnership led to a series of hot phones and has turned Nokia’s hold in the market, into a stronghold worldwide.

On its own, Nokia is no second fiddle Company that adopts concepts from the bigwigs. The creative genius alongside technical brilliance present at team Nokia has resulted in grand, useful and value for money handsets. The smart phone collection by Nokia take within its sweep a wide range of phones, from smart budget phones to the more fancy stuff with high end features. In 2011 Nokia brought out the Anna and Bella OS upgrade that won critics and consumers over and Nokia’s optimism over them was not for no reason.

Before 2012 even started, Nokia was certain that it would bring in a bunch of phones to compete with the popular dominating ones like of course, the Apple iPhone. When 2012 came around, it was obvious that before the close of the 3rd and 4th quarter market shares of Nokia would rise. Perhaps that’s why Nokia managed to keep their head above the tumultuous waters that came with the economic downturn and the widespread scepticism that followed about Nokia’s capacity to withstand it.

With 2013 here, and many names and model numbers of Nokia already in the news for prime launches of this year, it’s time to look back and pick the top three best Nokia’s phone, to really assess how far the Company has come and what standards it has set for itself, and others. In a year where the ‘economical’ and ‘state-of-the-art’ technology was imperative, Nokia rendered beautifully. In no particular order, here are our picks of 2012 from Nokia.

The Nokia Lumia 900

The Nokia Lumia 900 rolled out in the beginning of 2012 and was the rage at the time. The smartphone came with all new hardware which was distinctive from its previous Lumia mobiles already in the market. The Windows platform along with this new hardware brought in riveting news, that didn’t hold the spotlight for long, since it was that very hardware that let the phone down ultimately. All was forgiven and the phone did very well though mainly because of its larger screen, better and faster processor and also for the fact that it supported the latest mobile transfer data.

The Lumia 900 emanates from fine craftsmanship and the design is par excellence. This smartphone works on the Windows Phone 7,powered by a single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255T backed up by a 1.4GHz, 512MB of RAM, and 16GB onboard storage. This phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera accompanied by dual LED flash, HD recording, and FM Radio. The screen display is a decent and offered with 800 x 480 resolution AMOLED display with ClearBlack technology and a layer of Corning Gorilla glass which is sufficient for a 4.3inch screen. The battery is a well-performing 1,830 mAh battery delivering up to seven hours talk time. There is also a front-facing camera. Unfortunately however, owners of this smartphone won’t be getting any software upgrades, so there’s no chance of enjoying the Windows 8 experience on this handset.

The Nokia Lumia 920

Our next preferred pick is the Nokia Lumia 920 that has been labelled as the ‘world’s most innovative smartphone’. That tag is no empty moniker and the phone has even won several awards. The Lumia platform gets a nice shiny coating with the Lumia 920.  That and Windows 8. The Lumia 920 is a good upgrade for Nokia Lumia committed fans, as there are more apps, and high quality hardware.

The Lumia 920 has an 8.7Megapixel Nokia PureView snapper and a 1.2MP Front-Facing Camera. The screen is a 4.5 incher having a screen resolution of 1280 x 768 IPS LCD display. The magic comes alive with the Dual-Core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4, backed by 1GB of RAM, and good internal storage of 32 GB. The battery is a 2000 mAh one. Other features include Wireless Charging and LTE.

Nokia 808 PureView

This one is a smartphone which is intrinsically a phone with wondrous camera capabilities. The phone brings in a super high pixilation of 41 megapixels, which resultantly claimed it the prize for being the Best of Show at the Mobile World Congress. One of the biggest endearing factors of this phone is its price. You can get this super sapper for Rs. 25,000 only at present; however it was initially launched at Rs. 33,899.
The Nokia 808 PureView has a 4-inch 640x360 display, and works on a 1.3 GHz single-core processor. The phone has 512 MB worth of RAM and 16GB of memory which can be bumped up using a microSD card. Sadly, or not, this phone was given the Nokia Belle (Symbian OS 10.1) platform. For photography lovers this Phone is definitely worth buying.

The phone has a 3x lossless zoom, which in lay terms means that you can take a photo and zoom in up to three times and retain all the detail in the picture. With PureView imaging technology the photos captured surpass the regular output found on other smartphones and even digital cameras. This fun serves the purpose of allowing you to take candid photos that you can blow up and frame to enjoy for eternity. Even video recording is of high quality capable of shooting video in 1080p Full HD, with up to 4x lossless zoom. Nokia 808 PureView features a range of shooting modes like Automatic, Scenes and Creative modes to expand and flex your creativity. The camera settings and shooting parameters allow for maximum customization.

The Nokia 808 is the first smartphone to provide Dolby Headphone technology. With this enjoy Dolby Surround using the Dolby Headphones.

Each of the above three phones offer something unique and different setting them apart from the Nokia phones launched in 2012 and they even make their mark amongst Smartphone’s from other companies.
