2013 is an exciting
year for the tablet market with a host of new tablet devices being launched in
the country. Since the beginning of year, the world witnessed a host of
exciting new innovations including a growth in hybrid tablet-cum-PC devices and
plans for tablets being built on new platforms such as Ubuntu and Mozilla
Firefox OS.
A host of announcements, leaks and
rumors clearly excites us to see better and cooler innovations in this product
segment. These upcoming flagship devices are promising and set to raise the
benchmarks in the industry. Here’s a sneak peak of some promising forthcoming
tablets which we expect to hit the market in near future.
iPad Mini 2: The iPad Mini was the first 7-inch format tablet to
arrive in market from the house of Apple.Already there were rumors of short
supply of the iPad Mini last week as the iPad Mini 2’s imminent launch date
nears. The iPad 5 is expected to be launched along with iPad Mini 2 or around
the same time. Hopefully, the iPad Mini 2 will have a Retina display which many
Mini buyers were disappointed at not having. The device is expected to come
with an impressive 2048x1536 pixels resolution with a 324 ppi pixel density.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z: The tablet version of the hugely
successful Sony Xperia Z Smartphone is expected to arrive sometime next month.
The device was launched at the MWC 2013 and has the same impervious features
such as waterproof, shatterproof, dust resistant and scratch resistant ultra
slim body. The device has a 10.1 inch full HD display with 1920 x 1200 pixels
resolution. It will have the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and will be powered by a
1.5 GHZ quad core processor with 2GB RAM. The device has an 8MP rear camera and
will come in 16GB and 64GB memory options and runs on a powerful 6000mAh
battery.
Asus Fonepad: This is a voice calling tablet device that bridges
the gap between the tablet and Smartphone. The device is a 7-inch handset with
1280x800 pixels LCD display. Built with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, the
device comes with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 mobile processor with 1GB RAM. The
device is rumored to be similar to the Nexus 7, which is an Asus-Google
collaboration product. It was expected to be launched in March but there is no specific
launch date revealed.
ZTE V81: This device adds an extra inch to rebel against the
7-inch brigade, arriving with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and an 8-inch
display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The device has a 1.4 GHz dual core
processor and 1GB RAM. The device has mid-range tablet specs, so we can expect
it to be one of the value for money devices for the budget conscious.
Panasonic 4K 20-inch: When the company first showcased this
20-inch heavyweight tablet device, critics went into an overdrive wondering who
might want to carry such a huge device. The device is a Windows 8 OS based
tablet that will come with the Intel Core i5 or i7 processor options. It is
accompanied by an accelerometer and Bluetooth pen which combination the company
hopes to capture a niche market of artists, architects and designers. The
device weighs around 2.4kgs but comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB memory.
Lenovo Tablets: Lenovo has announced three new tablets for this
year - the Lenovo A1000, Lenovo A3000 and Lenovo S6000. All three devices are
Android 4.1 Jelly bean OS based tablets and while the A1000 and A3000 have
7-inch display, the A6000 has a 10.1-inch display. The three devices are
powered by 1.2GHz dual core processors. The tablet will be available in the
coming months globally.
Dell Latitude 10 Enhanced Security: The upgraded version of the
Dell Latitude 10 is mainly targeted at businessmen and company executives with
the enhanced security features integrated into the device. The device runs on
the Windows 8 OS and has a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 2GB of RAM. The
device can be customized to existing IT environment to improve IT efficiency
and reduce ownership cost.
There are many other devices that
will be available in the market in the coming months, a lot of them being
rumored. Most of these devices have a speculated release date, but we may
expect them to hit the market within six months of its being announced if it
wants to survive in this fast moving industry.
