5 Large Screen Smart Phones I am in Love with

The evolution of phablets was a boon for Tech lovers. Back in 2010, when Dell Streak (first 5 inch Android mobile) was launched, I was completely thrilled by the concept. Smartphones have always tried to replace computers and a 5 inch screen certainly enables achieving this up to a great extent. Watching movies, editing documents, surfing through the net and a hell lot of day-to-day tasks could be more comfortably performed on a larger than usual mobile phone.

Dell Streak was not a successful device in terms of sales, but the concept was appreciated, at least from the user point of view. Experts justified the failure saying it an awful product, which is neither a phone nor a tablet. Things changed after the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note. It was now an innovative product for the same experts who called Dell Streak an awful product, what an irony. I was lucky enough to become a proud owner to Samsung Galaxy Note. Since then, my love for phablets has never seen a decline. Here is a collection of 5 phablets I love. Some of them are which I have already used and some are phablets I wish to buy in near future.

Large screen mobiles I have used:

Samsung Galaxy Note
Now you know it all started with Samsung Galaxy Note. It was an excellent device, a result of great engineering. Neither the screen size was new nor the stylus, but the way it delivered mobility was excellent. The Super AMOLED screen simply allowed me to leave back my tablet home. The S-pen was far smarter than any stylus ever created. It wasn’t perfect but it was innovative. My two favorite activities, watching movies and surfing web were a pleasure performing on Samsung Galaxy Note.
What I didn’t like about Samsung Galaxy Note was its plastic body.

Micromax Canvas A100
By the mid of 2012 Indian market started getting crowded with phablets from Indian manufacturers. But if you remember, the bandwagon started with the Micromax Canvas A100. The mobile pundits called it Poor Man’s Galaxy Note. This was the time I was looking for another mobile, not to replace the Galaxy Note, but just to carry an extra number. I wanted to settle with some mediocre handset, but my big screen madness compelled me to buy another phablet. Thankfully it cost me one third of the first one. Comparing both the mobiles was far from justification, but in my views Micromax Canvas A100 was a genuine attempt to deliver that rich feeling in a budget.

Lava Iris 501
Lava Iris 501 is my latest love. I got rid of both of the previous gadgets and tried to purchase Micromax Canvas 2 A110. Unfortunately during its lifetime, Canvas 2 remained more out of the stock than on sale. Lava Iris 501 one was offering similar specification, was in stock, priced better and came with freebies. With time I found it a better deal than the Canvas 2 as it played Asphalt 6 flawlessly which my friend’s Canvas 2 couldn’t. On the downside, I was unable to find accessories for my IRIS 501. Cases and scratch guards were easily available for Canvas 2 but not for this.

Large screen mobiles I wish to use:

HTC Butterfly
HTC Butterfly is a powerful device. Quad core Krait processor, 2GB Ram, 11GB inbuilt storage, what else you need? Though I will miss the Super AMOLED here, but Super LCD3 isn’t bad too. HTC has focused more on performance of the device rather than adding numbers in the specifications, which could be a bit disappointing for some users. In a device costing almost thousand dollars, you are getting a mere 8MP camera. Not a long list super cool features as Samsung reveals with all its flagships. Beware; With HTC Butterfly you won’t feel wow if you are not a gamer or tech freak. But if you are, this is the best gadget to grab.

Samsung Galaxy S4
Just launched, SamsungGalaxy S4 will take some time hitting the stores. If I could wait for a couple of months and refrain myself from grabbing an HTC Butterfly, Samsung Galaxy S4 could definitely be my next flick.

Samsung Galaxy S4 is the first mobile with Octo-core processor. It comes with a great camera and long list of cool features, Eye scrolling and dual camera recording to name a few. Experts’ reviews are still awaited.
